The annual awards dinner of the Philadelphia Dumpster Divers took place on January 10th at Famous Deli at 4th and Bainbridge Streets. This year, wild and outlandish dresser, Linda Lou Horn, sponsored the Golden Hanger Award for “best dressed” (read “wild and outlandish). This year’s presenters were none other than the owners and operators of Sweet Mabel (Narberth, PA), Tracy and David. Thanks guys!
And guess who won it? Yep! Me! Normally a wall flower of indefinite species, I mostly prefer to…uh…well, disappear. But thanks to my shrink and a little blue pill, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it, disproving the old adage that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!”
Note: The t-shirt I was wearing under the bright red tuxedo jacket (jacket was a thrift store find) had a speaker attached through which I was able to play a number of wacky sound effects and music clips, like applause, booing, etc. It should also be noted that for this event I did not wear my usual sunglasses, so people finally got to see my eyes.
